Avid readers of the bible know that it foretold not only of the bad things happening now but also of the things that will occur in the near future. It also says that in the last days perilous times will come, which explains why each time you watch the news on television there isn’t a day that goes by without some pretty tragic things happening so suddenly and unexpectedly that we can never predict what tomorrow will bring.
Nations continue to rise against other nations seeing millions of people dying and been killed in wars during the past century as a result of war. Food shortages continue because many people do not have enough money to buy food or land on which to grow crops leaving people to suffer and die from hunger. According to the World Health Organization, malnutrition is the number one contributing factor in the deaths of more than five million children in penurious parts of the world.
We have seen many false prophets emerge and declare countless times that the world was supposed to end since 2008 and now in September 2017 claiming that the Western part of Europe will experience a partial eclipse while America will experience a total eclipse seen from cost to cost as a sign the coming judgment day – suggestions that so far continue to be unsubstantiated.
But as many continue to believe that the end is coming, what truths are these theories based upon? While prevalent wars, the immergence of new and strange plague-like diseases, earthquakes, famine continue to be the bases of the imminent end, is there anything else we should know before the world comes to an end? Since so many prophecies according to the bible are being fulfilled today, does this mean that we are living in the last days and haven’t we for centuries so far?
The delay of the world eminent culmination should not, however, allow us to deceive ourselves that the end is indeed that far off, but instead, we should focus on what we can do to prepare ourselves for it. The end, in essence, means the time when God will get rid of evil on earth and destroy all who willfully oppose Him, which is what is happening now. There is an intensifying persecution of Christians who are being killed for their faith and prevented from practicing their faith through issued death threats or forced conversions in many parts of the world today.
Additionally, people have put more emphasis on pleasurable things, money, status rather than serving God. An increased wickedness and moral decline and lifeless dying churches are a sure sign of the end times.
The growing need to save souls and spread the gospel in the last days is another sign. Missionaries are being dispersed worldwide in order to preach and save people from destruction. Do you believe that we are living in the last days and are you prepared?
